Step Into the Fairytale of This Enchanted California Home
It’s time for another customer spotlight on the Riad Tile blog, and this week we’re looking at one of our all-time favorite showers. This arched masterpiece by Brodie Jenkins uses our 2”x6” Natural White Zellige tiles and is one of the most liked designs on our Instagram. This shower exemplifies how our Natural Zellige perfectly blends the provincial with the pristine. Our Natural White glaze preserves the clean, glittering nature of our Zellige, but the off-white hue of this tile brings a touch of rustic personality. When styling this space, Jenkins told Domino how Edith Nesbit’s Enchanted Castle inspired her, which is a present influence throughout her arch-filled home.

Retaining the fairy-tale feel of the house while keeping it contemporary and clean, Jenkins filled the bathroom with a mix of traditional and modern pieces. Our Zellige tile and the Waterworks fixture in the shower, with an alcove often occupied by flowers, bring an old-world, country feel. A concrete tub from Native Trails and sink from Atmosphyre balance that with sharp lines, and a neutral color palette allows pops of color to come from accessories.

We love how Jenkins leans on brass accents to build the ambiance of her house. The arched shower mirrors the adjacent door, and even the built-in shelves are arched. The whimsy never feels overdone, especially when the soft curves meet with concrete fixtures and clean lines.

A small detail that builds off of this balance that we love is the shower alcove. In an entirely arched and otherwise fluid space, the nook uses straight lines to stand out in the shower. It provides a perfect focal point for the eye to rest on while taking in the room and is a carefully curated reprieve from the surrounding rounded edges.

Overall, we adore how Jenkins integrated our handmade Zellige into her fairytale home. Our 4”x4” Natural White Zellige also adorns Jenkins’ kitchen backsplash, proving that our Zellige is magical enough for any storybook space.
