Hot Summer Tile Trends to Help Your Space Sizzle

Warm, sunny weather inspires creativity, and designers and DIYers can’t wait to explore summer tile trends to transform a space. From the laundry room to the master bath to the kitchen and beyond, the best summer tiles will brighten up your home.

To stay in step with tile trends 2023, use mosaics, hexagons, Terrazzo, and Zellige tiles in your summer renovation projects. Check out these examples featuring Riad Tile’s handmade artisan tiles in a glorious array of colors and patterns.

Mosaic Tile and Decorative Patterns

Mosaic tile designs and bold ceramic patterns are in this summer. Both tile styles add artistic flair to kitchens, bathrooms, floors, and walls. Mosaics often combine or repeat texture, pattern, color, and composition to render one overall design.

For example, Riad Tile’s Casablanca Carrara & Nero Marquina Marble-Honed creates a stunning 3″ Checkerboard Mosaic.

Bold ceramic tile patterns can create breathtaking aesthetics around a fireplace, on a shower wall or on mudroom flooring.

Riad Tile’s decorative custom tile patterns for @bishopartsdistrict building exteriors make many creative and colorful artistic statements.

Hexagon Tile

Hexagon tile’s unique shape offers design versatility and a modern aesthetic. You can use them alone on a wall or backsplash or to contrast or compliment other tile applications in the same room, such as flooring.

Hexagons also make an eye-catching mosaic focal point — such as Riad Tile’s Calacatta Gold Marble-Honed – 2″ Hexagon Mosaic. This rare tile comes exclusively from one quarry in Tuscany, Italy’s Carrara region.

It makes any space, including a master bath, look luxurious. Shimmery strands of gold throughout might even remind you of the sun’s warm golden rays.

Riad’s Nola 4002 cement tile in blue and white hexagon brightens up the kitchen and makes a fun backsplash in @juniperwestdesign’s renovation project. Can you imagine a bright blue summer sky or a beach house vibe with this airy color combination?

Terrazzo Tile

Terrazzo tile is all the rage this summer!

Riad Tile craftspeople pour a cement base layer and add small bits of granite, marble, or stone to make Terrazzo’s unique speckled look and texture. Because they’re based in cement, sanded and sealed, Terrazzo tiles are durable, making them a practical flooring choice.

Even better, you don’t have to sacrifice beauty for longevity. Terrazzo’s colorful patterns add visual appeal that spice up any space, from a laundry room or office to a bathroom or entryway.

You can also use Terrazzo as a backsplash, on walls, and in many creative ways.

White is a cool summer hue that works year-round. This lovely example from @aplaceinprogress home décor shows how you can cut Riad’s Terrazzo White tile to fit your application. They use 12″x12″ tile as main flooring and cut it to 4″x4″ tiles for a shower floor.

Zellige Tile

Zellige tile never seems to go off-trend. So, we expect to see it on display in various summer reno projects.

Zellige is a type of glazed terracotta tile originally hailed from Morocco centuries ago. Artisans carry on tradition today and make each tile by hand one at a time. So, no two tiles are ever alike. This makes for a fascinating blend of color and texture in any application.
