Color Scheme Ideas for White Zellige Tile

Installing new tiles can be a stressful decision when there are so many shapes, styles and colors to choose from. If you’re overwhelmed by the sheer number of options, try pairing classic, white Zellige tile with any number of other colors in a room.

Our authentic Zellige tile is sourced from the Fez region of Morocco. The tiles are hand-crafted, following centuries of tradition of harvesting non-refined clay and firing it at low temperatures. Because of the ancient glazing and firing process, even Snow White and Natural White Zellige tiles vary in shade and tone, sometimes coming with minor pits and cracks.

Even with these imperfections, white Zellige tiles are classic — yet versatile enough to match most color schemes in any indoor or outdoor application.

This kitchen, designed by Avery Earl Fanning and Shellhorse Interiors, perfectly shows the spectrum of shades included in Snow White 4″x4″ square Zellige tiles. In fact, when paired with sea green cabinetry and hanging plants, the tiles reflect hints of teal.

The upper kitchen cabinets remain white to match the tiles, avoiding an overkill of green. A bit of exposed red brick and wooden bar chairs perfectly contrast the green cabinetry.

Though this kitchen is mostly white, with walls covered in Snow White 2″x6″ Zellige tile — one of our newer products, a thinner version of a classic favorite – DIY designer Astra Spanbauer brings in some color with teal rugs that match the island counter.

The kitchen gives off even more of a natural, bohemian feel with wooden floors that pair with wicker-backed bar chairs, plus the wooden paneling on the ceiling. Tie in matching light fixtures and a handful of wooden countertop decorations to create the ideal color scheme with white Zellige tile.

Gray

If you tend to shy away from bright colors, try installing Natural White 2″x6″ Zellige tile surrounded by white cabinets and gray wooden flooring. These colors, along with a splash of gray in the walls around the doorways, give this room a healthy dose of dimension.

Julie Baird, the designer who transformed an unusable closet into this new corner of a mud room, added a pop of color with a red rug. Bonus points if the rug matches a room’s accessories as it does here with a few pots and plants on a shelf.

Continuing with neutrals, sometimes the best color to go with white tile is — you guessed it — more white. The Snow White 4″x4″ square Zellige tiles in this kitchen, designed by MIF Design and Construction, reflect a massive amount of light coming in from the tall windows. And the tall windows perfectly frame the matching long cabinetry. Gold cabinet handles and lighting fixtures above the windows reflect even more light in this room.

Dark Wood

Last (but certainly not least) is another flawless application of our Snow White 4″x4″ square Zellige tiles. Whereas the previous kitchen’s Zellige tiles reflect outside light around the space, this kitchen’s design elements are wonderfully moody.

Christina Cruz Interiors chose dark wood for some cabinets, bringing out the dark wood chairs, table and island. But it’s not too much when paired with white cabinets and light wooden detailing.
