5 Ways To Spice Up Your Shower Niche with Handmade Tile

A bathroom is where you transform at the beginning and end of every day, so renovating and re-decorating one is always exciting.

A shower alcove or niche is one of our favorite aspects to add to any bathroom space. Here are five ways to spice up your shower niche, whether it’s a place for your favorite conditioners and body washes or somewhere to add a bit of decor.

1. Match it to The Floor

One way to make your shower alcove pop is to tie it to another design element in the room. In this space by the Lostrittos, our Blush Terrazzo cement tile extends from niche to floor. The beauty of our Blush Terrazzo is its soft ability to complement neutral palettes while adding a bit of color, pattern, and flair.

2. Extend it Along the Wall

Another way to bring your shower niche to the next level is to extend it along the wall. While shower niches are often relatively small, a longer one like this adds visual interest (and leaves more room for products). In this space, Alejandra Mora from BuildTX Solutions used our 4×4 Snow White Zellige on the walls and our 6×12 Casablanca Carrara Marble tile on the floor.

Zellige is a beautiful Moroccan tile handcrafted by artisans with non-refined natural clay. No two Zellige tiles are the same, and their eye-catching color variation will help make your bathroom one of a kind.

3. Add a Border That Pops

If you want to keep your shower niche traditional, with the same tile and standard size, you can still spice it up in this simple way. Adding a soft border distinguishes it elegantly from the rest of the wall. Interior Envy used our 2×6 Natural White Zellige to create a dreamy, whimsical, and peaceful space. All the shower niche needs a thin marble outline to be complete.

If your bathroom is already popping, like this look by Allen Vance, a thin border around the niche will still help to make it stand out amongst exciting designs. In this space, Allen used our Nola Black cement tile on the wall of their hotel bathroom.

4. Create a Unique Arched Shape

This design from Imagine Renovations uses our 2×6 Emerald Green Zellige on the shower walls. Their nook is one of our favorites, constructed using beautiful white marble; what we love most is its unique arched shape. Their arched alcove is classic and romantic, bringing some old-world flair to this space.

5. Go Full Contrast

Last but not least is this space by Iconic Styling, who used our 4×4 Natural White Zellige on the walls and 4×4 Black Zellige in the shower niche. There’s nothing wrong with a bit of contrast, and this look leans into it. This look amped up its wraparound shower niche an extra mile with two zellige colors. We love how this look uses multiple elements to make the shower niche stand out.

No matter what style you decide on, all that matters is that it expresses who you are and helps bring happiness to your life. As we transform into the people that we need to be every day, we must do it in a space that generates good energy.
