Nero Marquina quarries are located in China, Iran, and Spain’s Basque Country, where the earth is rich in natural bitumen, a form of petroleum. The bitumen infuses with the marble under the earth’s immense heat and pressure, tinting it a shade of dark grey. As they’re removed from the earth and hewn into the proper shape, Nero Marquina slabs are meticulously polished until gleaming black, exposing a color that is becoming a part of so many homes today.
