MARBLE TILE INSTALLATION
Printable Installation instructions PDF
We recommend using an installer that is experienced with natural stone installation. Riad Tile can’t be held responsible for tiles that have already been installed.
Upon receiving your tiles, carefully inspect your order, keeping in mind that variation in color and veining is common. Marble from many different boxes should be mixed to achieve the best overall blend of color and veining. Use setting materials that are specific for white marble and are non-staining (follow manufacturer’s instructions).
Use a penetrating sealer such as Miracle 511 Porous Plus Sealer. We sell the recommended sealer by the Quart (covers 200-250 sqft – applications) and Gallon (covers 500-750 sqft – 2 applications).
We highly recommend using Mapei Flexcolor CQ grout. Available at Lowe’s and Floor and Decor.
Dark colored grout is not recommended as it can cause stains on the tile that are difficult to remove. However, dark colored grout can be used ONLY if using Mapei Flexcolor CQ grout.
Care and Maintenance
Clean floors regularly with a clean, non-treated dry dust mop. We recommend the use of floor mats or rugs inside and outside the entrance to minimalize the sand, dirt and other debris that may scratch the marble floor.
To clean your marble use only mild pH neutral cleaners. Your local grocery or hardware store should have many cleaners labelled natural stone cleaner that should be pH neutral. Soapless cleaners are recommended as they minimize the streaking and film left on the tile. Mild, phosphate-free, biodegradable liquid dishwashing soaps or powders or stone soaps can be used as well (be sure to rinse thoroughly).
Soap scum in showers and baths can be minimized by using liquid soaps and squeegeeing after every use. To remove soaps scum and some stains we recommend the Miracle Porcelain & Ceramic Tile Cleaner or Miracle Heavy Duty Cleaner (Acid Substitute).
