Tiles Are Never Black or White

Black and white tile designs are returning in-vogue. There are many unique ways to combine typically simplistic black-and-white tiles to create something visually exciting and structurally sound.

You can use a black-and-white color scheme to create designs that are as intricate as they are stunning.

Estrella Black Cement Tiles

For example, these gorgeous bathrooms from LL Design Co. and Carly at Home and Style use our Estrella Black cement tile uniquely.

LL Design uses the tile on the floor and one bathroom wall to emphasize the room’s background. A solid white tub complements the tiles’ pattern and adds calm to the space.

On the other hand, Carly chose to use the tile only on the floor of her washroom, leaving the walls open for something else visually appealing.

Both designers incorporated plants and greenery into their spaces. It’s an exceptional use of accent colors that complement the tile pattern wonderfully.

Hayley took a slightly different route with this same tile. Instead of using white for accent colors, she chose a black tub that emphasizes the black parts of the tile. The dark cabinets also highlight the room’s white walls and create a space where light and dark play off each other.

Estrella Black Tiles

The Estrella Black is a popular tile amongst remodelers, but we love to see when homeowners combine two different patterns and turn them into something extraordinary.

That’s exactly what TP Remodeling did with our Estrella Black tiles and an additional complementary black-and-white hexagonal pattern. The sharp points of the Estrella tile and the somewhat more rounded pattern of the hexagons are starkly different, yet they complement each other well. They also included a black-and-white bath towel in the picture to round out the photo.

Maya White Tiles

Black and white can complement even when they clash.

Bethany with The Posh Home took our Maya White tiles to fill out an outdoor pad for a complete design makeover. These tiles are unique in that the diagonal lines of the pattern can be oriented in various ways to produce different patterns, but they’re all diagonal lines. Bethany placed a black-and-white rug on top of the tiles, creating an entirely different space within a space. This space’s surrounding greenery makes for a gorgeous setting, and the black, white, and green all work together to create an exceptional outdoor area.

The Irwin family used the same Maya White tiles to create a different atmosphere when remodeling their bathroom. They complemented the black-and-white paneled walls with natural wood cabinetry, making the tiles the room’s focal point. The contrast between the meandering lines of the tiles and the solid colors of the furniture and walls makes for an interesting play between colors and patterns.

Casablanca Carrara and Nero Marquina Tiles

Our tiles vary slightly in design, a function of our handmade tile creation process. Although we try to make uniform tiles, slight differences in the manufacturing process can change the color hue or glaze from tile to tile.

We tiled the shower area with our 6″ x12″ Casablanca Carrara marble tile for an incredibly eye-catching, one-of-a-kind remodel. The differences in gray and white indicate a separate space that’s part of the whole room. We used the Nero Marquina and the Casablanca Carrara marble to create a visually stunning diamond pattern for the floor. The alternating black-and-white diamond centers are mesmerizing. The white of the floor highlights the tub and shower area, while the black portion brings in the dark cabinetry.

Ultimately, these designs showcase how black-and-white can pull every facet of a room together in one unified space.
